CAN'S ROLE IN FACILITATING UPDATES TO ASHEVILLE'S NOISE ORDINANCE
During recent meetings with Development Services Department director Ben Woody, CAN has reached an agreement to facilitate a community-lead discussion to determine the elements of Asheville's noise ordinance that residents would like to see included in the updated ordinance.
The process to be followed is outlined HERE.
CAN encourages all members of the community who have a strong interest in addressing the community's approach to noise, or those who have expertise in this area, to complete the form and register to participate in this process.
We encourage all interested Asheville residents to join us in determining the content of Asheville revised Noise Ordinance.
At the first general content meeting we identified six (6) sections that residents would like to see included in the updated noise ordinance. Break-out groups were created for each of the sections, during which content will be identified, prior to being passed along to a technical review and writing team that will draft a formal document.
Upcoming break-out team meetings:
* Entertainment Venues - Monday June 17 th at 6:30
* Construction - Thursday June 13th at 5:30
* Industrial - Thursday June 20th at 5:30
* Landscaping & Neighbor Noise - Wednesday June 19th at 6:00
* Motorized Vehicles - Tuesday June 11th at 6:30
* Technical Writing & review - Thursday June 20th at 5:30
All meetings will be held at the First Baptist Church located at the corner of Oak and Woodfin Streets. Enter the church through the door that is under the canopy off the parking lot that lies between S. Charlotte and Oak St. It is easiest to park in the parking lot that abuts both S. Charlotte and Oak Streets.
